Min. certification: Open Water Certification required
Min logged dives: 4 logged dives required

What to expect

Your training begins with the PADI eLearning® course Underwater Navigator Online or by reading the PADI Underwater Navigator manual and watching a DVD. Learn about different underwater navigation techniques, such as using clues from the environment to find your way. Next, you'll practice using a compass on land. When you feel confident in your above-water skills, you'll make three dives in the ocean or other large body of water. Your instructor will explain different ways to estimate distance, point out natural navigation clues and help you hone your underwater navigation skills.
